THE GREAT COMMISSION
1. What assignment did Jesus give to his disciples before he went to heaven?                              
  • Jesus told them to preach the Gospel to every creature. Matthew 28:16-20

2. How can we get the power of God needed to do the work?
    We get the power by:
  • Waiting on God. Acts 1:1-8

3. What can prevent people from getting the power of God?

Why did Jesus pray for all believers when he was about to go back to heaven?

GOD WANTS US TO LEARN ABOUT HIM
Text: Matthew 11:28-30
Two sisters, Mary and Martha were in the same place. Martha was busy about the house work, but Mary sat at Jesus feet and continue to listen to Jesus and to learn from him. Martha go upset about that, but Jesus told her that Mary has chosen the better thing, which is to learn from him.

Why do we have to learn about God?
Nobody has seen God, neither could anybody just know God wants, thus there is need to learn about God:
  • To know about him, 1 Corinthians 2:11-12
  • To know what he likes and what he hates
  • To what he wants us to do
God has set people in his church to teach his word, because he knows we need to learn.
1 Corinthians 12:28, Ephesians 4:11-12


THE NEED TO DRAW CLOSER TO GOD
Text: James 4:7-8
Why should we draw closer to God?

  • To have the revelation of who God is
  • To have God's protection
  • To have his direction

Why is that people find it difficult to draw closer to God?

A NEW CREATURE IN CHRIST
Text: 2 Corinthians 5:16-21

What does it mean to be a new creature in Christ?
What are the old things that will pass away?
What are the things that become new?

Man has sinful nature right from birth.
Romans 5:12 says, Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.

1 Corinthians 15:22 says, For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

PRAYER
THE NEED FOR  TO PRAY

What is prayer? Jeremiah 33:3
  • Prayer is the means through which we communicate with God our Father.
Why do we have to pray? 1 John 5:14-15
  • Prayer is not telling God what to do, because he already knows your needs, but prayer is agreeing with what God said in his word.
How do we pray? Matthew 6:5-13

Are there hindrances to prayer, what are they?

THE NEED TO WAIT ON GOD

  • We wait in order to be empowered by the Holy Spirit of God.

HOW TO RECOGNIZE THE VOICE OF GOD

FOLLOWING THE LEADERSHIP OF GOD

  • We must trust him. Proverbs 3:5-6
  • We must humble ourselves. 1 Peter 5:6-7
  • We must seek his face. Jeremiah 29:11-13

THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST                          3/22/2016

29Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a sponge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.

30When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished:and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
  • What was finished?
  • How does it affect us and all mankind?
1. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
2. There's need for the payment for sin.
3. When Jesus died on the cross, everything necessary to make payment for sin was finished.
Separation between God and us was broken.
We can now have access to God our Father.

ARE YOU REALLY WALKING CLOSELY WITH GOD?      4/5/2016
Text: Matthew 26:57-58 says, And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. But Peter followed him afar off unto the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants, to see the end.
  • What are the things that can make a believer to follow Jesus fro a far distance place?
    * They are Problems, fear, hardship, difficulties, etc.
  • What happens if we don't walk closer with God?
    * There's possibility of falling from grace, we may deny God. 
  • What can we do to walk closely enough with God?
    * We can trust him no matter what happens.
STANDING FAST IN GOD'S LIBERTY                       4/19/2016
Text: Galatians 5:1 says, Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
  • What type of liberty or freedom are we talking about?
    * Freedom from boundage.
  • What are we free from?
    * We are free from sin.
  • Is it freedom to do whatever we want?
    * It is freedom to do what God says.
